Thandai is a traditional Indian cold beverage made with a flavorful blend of milk, nuts, seeds, and aromatic spices. Popularly consumed during festivals like Holi and Maha Shivaratri, it is known for its cooling and rejuvenating properties. The drink is typically prepared by soaking and grinding ingredients such as almonds, fennel seeds, poppy seeds, cardamom, black pepper, and saffron into a fine paste, which is then mixed with milk and sweetened with sugar or honey. Sometimes, rose petals and kewra water are added for extra fragrance. Thandai is not only delicious but also packed with nutrients, aiding digestion, improving energy levels, and keeping the body cool during hot weather. A special variation, known as "bhang thandai," includes cannabis leaves and is traditionally enjoyed during festive celebrations.
